PREVENTING THEFT

"Common Sense Is Your Best Defence"

  • Always ensure your quad/bike is parked in a safe place and take your keys with you.
  • Never hide a second set of keys on or near your quad/bike.
  • Never leave your quad/bike running unattended.
  • Engrave expensive accessories/parts with your VIN number or personal ID number.
  • Install an effective anti-theft device and use it.
  • Take a photograph of your quad/bike and keep it in a safe place.

BUYING & SELLING USED QUADS OR BIKES

" If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably isn't"

  • Verify quad/bike details at Stolen Quads & Bikes.
  • When buying from a private individual, make sure the title and registration match the name and address of the person selling the quad/bike.
  • Be cautious of a seller with no fixed address, place of employment, phone number or who only has a mobile phone or pager number.
  • Check that the VIN, Engine & Chassis No's on the quad/bike correspond with those on the registration documents.
  • Be wary of a loose ignition switch, loose or joined wires and new paint.
  • Always ensure that you are not alone when concluding the sale and don't meet the potential buyer/seller at a location unknown to you, rather meet the potential buyer at a police station.
